Justice or Peace?

We live in a world where we often experience what feels to be the lack of a manifestation of true justice. The whole world is crying out for justice. Billions of people are aching from the economic impact of viral pandemia, and many nations are facing turmoil and upheaval from the aftermath of civil tragedies and natural disasters. We are restless, rustled, weary, worn out, anxious, and angry.

However, we can rest assured that all is being taken into account, and God has promised that One Day each one of us will be held accountable for the deeds done while in the body. Whatever happens in the here and now, there is coming a Day when all things shall be made right.

Whether corrupt governments fail to execute proper justice, or whether fellow citizens infringe upon the rights of others, every person will stand before their Maker on the Day of Judgment and will have to answer for their own crimes - against others, against themselves, and against the God who created them.

The reality of this matter is that none are innocent. All are guilty. The Lord of Heaven has set the standard of righteousness for mankind, and every one of them have been found lacking of what has been required. We are prideful, selfish, and wicked. You have not loved your neighbor as yourself, and you have not loved God with all of your heart, mind, soul, or strength. The punishment for this failure to uphold justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before Him is the eternal hell of fire.

In the High Court of Heaven there is no jury of peers. There is only One Lawgiver and Judge.

There are therefore only two options before you: Represent yourself or obtain an advocate. You are without excuse, O man! Stand before the mirror of God's Law, and behold your sin and the exceeding sinfulness thereof! If the Judge is just, you must face the Wrath to Come!

Who shall deliver us now from this body of death?

Thanks be to God who has given us an advocate with the Father: our Lord Jesus Christ!

On behalf of all those who believe, eternal justice was met in full on Calvary's hill. The perfect Holy One crushed His Son who drank that bitter cup reserved for us. The punishment due unto you for your sins was born by Christ Jesus in his body and He died. His blood was spilled for all of your guilt. He was buried and rose again the third day, justifying us before the Throne. We have a great high priest who is well acquainted with our grief and has directly faced every temptation that would come upon us, yet without sin.

As Isaiah rightly prophesied,

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.  He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.  And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.  Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities." (53:4‭-‬11)

Behold thy Lord and thy God. Receive His mercy today. Believe that God's justice fell upon Christ that you might receive His peace.

Amen.
